How to turn on IMAP in Microsoft 365

  1. Navigate to: https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/
  2. Click on the Support headset in the bottom right
  3. Type: Diag: Enable Basic Auth in EXO
  4. Click Run Tests
If not prompted to enable IMAP

  1. Open powershell as administrator
  2. set-executionpolicy unrestricted
    1. Select A
  3. install-module exchangeonlinemanagement
    1. Select A
  4. import-module exchangeonlinemanagement
  5. connect-exchangeonline
  6. Log into admin account
  7. enable-organizationcustomization  <-- takes a few minutes

  1. Go back to: https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/
  2. Click on the Support headset in the bottom right
  3. Type: Diag: Enable Basic Auth in EXO
  4. Click Run Tests
  5. Enable IMAP for everyone

After everyone is migrated Enable MFA for all users
