Should I use a Password Vault?
Today you need a password for everything. Do you find it difficult to remember all your different passwords?
Password vaults are a secure encrypted application which house all your passwords. Password vaults are extremely useful for maintaining a maximum level of security for your personal password information. The reason password vaults are superior to a typical notepad application is because of the encryption process which takes your written password from text data to code making unauthorized access much more difficult than a simple password on a notepad application.
This doesn't make password vaults impervious though. If a password vault is broken into (which is rare) you’ve had a massive data breach and will need to re-secure all account passwords attached to the password vault. If you forget the password to your password vault is can be extremely difficult or impossible to recover your passwords. If your passwords are repeated or not secure (as many peoples are) or if your computer is stolen, it can make it easier to steal your personal information because its all under one vault. If the password vault is Cloud sync enabled, you risk housing your password information not on your local machine which can be very helpful for the sake of ease but can be a problem if the service has a security breach.
A password vault is better then a notepad application, but less secure than writing it on a piece of paper
